1st Opening sequence analysis

The across 110th street music by Bobby Womack sets the 70's casual theme to the film along side the retro yellow and red font. The simplicity of this fixed mid shot throughout the opening sequence clearly states and includes the main character. Not much dramatic action occurs although there is a slight variation of shots that imply that the character in shot is rushing to get somewhere. For example the use of a long shot of her moving from right to left of the shot when she starts to speed up suggests a change of pace. Furthermore the camera shots used abide by the 180 degree rule (camera stays on one side of the imaginary line) so there is no confusion about which way the character is travelling as the shot always show her walking from the right side of the screen to the left; no matter what the camera angle is.
